Create an automated email campaign

You can create one-off automated campaigns with a specific trigger. There are also flexible scheduling options, allowing you to choose a customised recurrence for when the campaign should run.

To use the campaign builder to create an automated email campaign, follow the steps below:

  1. From the left-hand menu, click Campaigns.

  2. Click Campaign Builder.

  3. Work through the sections:

    1. Target

    2. Create

    3. Voucher, optional

    4. Sender

    5. Design

    6. Schedule


Target

Here you can add your selection, set the campaign type and sender profile, and decide how to reach your customers by following the steps below:

  1. To add a selection, select one of the options:

    • Import Selection: To load a previously saved selection.

    • New Selection: To open the Contact Segmentation screen and build your selection. Once finished, click Use.

  2. Set the parameters for your campaign:

    • Campaign Type and Sender Profile: This setting determines whether your selection will be filtered by the opt-in status or not. several conditions, for example the sender from name and address, reply to name and address, and whether it's a standard or service email.

    • Opt in level: Determined by your customers opt-in preferences, if you have them set up. For example, some customers may have only signed up to your newsletters, so if you're sending a newsletter make sure to select this opt in level.

    ⚠️Important: Once you click Next you can't edit the choice of the sender profile.Select the email icon, to choose email as your campaign channel.

    🤓Tip: The Count column indicates how many of your initial selection you can contact via the chosen channel only when you select the channel.

  3. Select the email icon, to choose email as your campaign channel.

  4. Click Next.


Create

In the Create screen, you can start to create your campaign:

  1. Enter the title and description of your campaign.

    • This is for internal reference to help you distinguish your campaigns.

  2. As you are creating an automated campaign, select Automated Campaign.

  3. To send only one communication per customer, select the tick box by Exclusion Rule.

  4. From the displayed Exclusion Rule dropdown, select the relevant option:

    • A Day

    • A Week

    • Every 2 Weeks

    • Every 3 Weeks

    • Ever

    • A Month

    • A Quarter

    • Every 6 Months

    • A Year

⚠️Important: Always include the exclusion rule as necessary to prevent any customer from receiving multiple lapsed communications within the same period if they were eligible to receive it again.


Voucher

To attach a voucher to the campaign, see the options below:

  • To select an existing voucher, click the pointer icon by the voucher.

  • To create a new voucher, click Create Offer and populate the details.


Sender

As you fill in the details on the Sender screen, the email preview on the right-hand side automatically updates, allowing you to see how your email will appear in a customers’ inbox.

Here you can set up:

  • Description: Is already populated from the Create screen.

  • Subject: The subject line for your email.

  • Preheader: This appears under the subject line. You can add more information to the subject of the email.

📌Note: A pop-up appears if you haven't added a preheader. This isn’t essential, you can either skip or add one.


Design

In the Design step, click Use by the relevant template you want to use in your design, and proceed with modifying the design of your campaign.


Schedule

In the Schedule screen you view the following:

  • Channel: Shows the channel you chose, email, SMS, etc.

  • Title: The campaign name.

  • Preview/Edit: To either preview or edit the campaign.

  • Due date: The date and time which the email sends.

  • Expire(s) on: The final date and time that the email sends.
