The Survey Builder module enables you to create personalised web surveys to collect information from new prospects or enrich the profiles of existing customers. Survey responses feed directly back into the Single Customer View (SCV), building a richer picture of each customer's preferences and interests over time. Beyond simply collecting answers, Survey Builder can act on responses automatically;creating leads, logging feedback and notifying staff, turning surveys into an operational trigger rather than a passive data-capture tool.
What you can do
Create and customise surveys with your branding.
Choose from a wide range of question types to gather the data you need.
Distribute surveys via email campaigns, a direct URL link, or social media.
Set expiry dates and response caps to control survey availability.
Route responses automatically to leads, feedback, enquiries or staff notifications.
Create or update customer records â including new sign-ups â directly from responses.
View survey statistics and export responses for analysis.
Use survey responses to enrich customer data and build targeted segments in the SCV.
Question types
Survey Builder supports a wide range of question formats so you can collect the type of data that matters most to your business:
Multiple choice: Single or multi-select answers (including a dropdown display variant).
Free text: Open-ended responses from customers.
Numeric: Capture numbers such as age, quantity or spend.
Rating scale / Feedback score: Capture satisfaction or sentiment numerically, with optional emoticon displays.
NPS (Net Promoter Score): Measure loyalty on the standard 0â10 scale.
Date: Collect specific dates such as birthdays or anniversaries.
Time: Collect a specific time of day.
Matrix: Ask several related questions in a grid, with single- or multi-select answers per row.
Label: Display informational text or instructions (not a question).
Upload media: Let respondents attach an image, video or PDF.
Captcha: Protect public surveys from automated submissions.
Name & address: Collect contact details and optionally create a new customer record.
Marketing opt-in: Capture consent on a single channel or across multiple channels.
Right to process (GDPR): Record consent with a privacy policy link and text.
Known fields: Map answers directly to Location, Category, Subcategory or Preferred Site in the SCV.
Conditional question logic
You can show or hide individual questions, or individual answer choices, based on previous answers. Rules support both AND and OR operators, so the survey adapts to each respondent as they progress.
Distributing your survey
Surveys can be shared in several ways:
Via an email campaign: Embed a survey link directly into a campaign sent through the Campaigns module. This lets you target specific customer segments and track who has responded.
Via a direct URL: Share the survey link externally: on your website, social media, or printed materials, to capture responses from new prospects and unknown visitors.
Via social media: Post the survey directly to Facebook or Twitter from the publish screen.
Managing responses
You can control survey availability and manage incoming responses by:
Setting a response cap to automatically close the survey once a maximum number of submissions is reached.
Configuring an expiry date so the survey closes at a set point in time.
Choosing a response type: "Save only latest response" or "Save all responses" per contact, with optional pre-population of a returning customer's previous answers.
Restricting access so a survey and its responses are limited to specific users or groups, controlling who can view results.
Viewing live response data from the survey stats screen.
Exporting all responses to analyse results outside the platform.
đ Note: Once a response cap is reached or the expiry date passes, the survey closes automatically, and new respondents see the configured closure message instead of the questions. Make sure to review your cap settings before launching a campaign linking to a survey.
Routing survey responses
Beyond storing answers, Survey Builder can act on responses automatically as they arrive. You can set a global rule that applies to all responses, or personalised rules triggered by a specific answer. Each response can be routed to:
Create a Sales Lead (SLP): Turn a response into a lead assigned to the relevant site, source and status.
Create a Feedback or Enquiry record: Log the response for follow-up.
Notify Atreemo users: Alert internal staff based on their location/category notification setup.
Email external recipients: Send the response content to addresses outside the platform.
đ Note: Routing rules make surveys an operational trigger, not just a data-capture tool. A single response can create a lead, log feedback and notify staff at the same time.
How survey data enriches customer profiles
When a known customer completes a survey, their responses are automatically stored against their profile in the SCV. This means you can:
Add preference data such as dietary requirements, interests, or product preferences.
Use survey responses as segmentation criteria in the data tree to build targeted audiences.
Personalise future campaigns based on what customers told you directly.
Creating and updating customer records
A Name & Address question can do more than enrich existing profiles. You can configure it to:
Create a brand-new contact or master contact from an unknown respondent.
Generate a member number automatically for new sign-ups.
Flag the respondent as opted-in on submission.
Pre-populate known details for existing customers, and optionally prevent their existing details from being overwritten (with a custom "incorrect details" message).
Compliance and data retention
Survey Builder includes features to help you stay compliant when collecting personal data:
Minimum age / parental consent: Gate Name & Address questions behind an age check or parental consent.
Right to process: Present a privacy policy link and consent text before collecting data.
Media retention limits: Automatically delete uploaded images, PDFs or videos after a set retention period, while preserving the rest of the response data.
Survey structure and design
Surveys are more configurable than logo and colours alone:
Build multi-page surveys and drag-and-drop to reorder, move or duplicate questions across pages.
Add a custom Thank You / completion page, required-question text, and a "Please select" placeholder for dropdowns.
Customise fonts, button colours (including hover states), checkbox colours, background image/banner and question spacing, or upload a custom CSS file.
Randomise answer order, enforce mandatory questions, set word/character limits and min/max selection counts.
Copy an existing survey to use as a starting point for a new one.
Automatically translate the survey page into other languages.
Key things to know
Survey Builder is an additional Acteol Enterprise module. Contact your account manager to add it to your package.
