Submission cap management allows you to define a maximum number of responses for a survey. Once the cap is reached, the survey automatically closes, ensuring you never collect more responses than planned.
Submission cap configuration
You can define a submission limit before your survey goes live. This is done via easy steps:
โ ๏ธImportant: Before you start, it's important to know that, to add and manage submission caps, you have to:
Have permission to create or manage surveys.
Have access to the survey builder and it's licenced within your account.
Navigate to Survey Builder module from the home page.
Open an existing survey or create a new one.
From your survey, go to the Settings bar.
Click the Launch Survey
icon.Locate the Submission Cap field, then enter the maximum number of responses you want to allow.
You can configure a Closure Message to display when the cap is reached.
Click Save.
Add or edit a submission cap on a live survey

Click the Launch Survey
icon.Locate the Submission Cap field, then enter the maximum number of responses you want to allow.
Enter a number higher than the current response count.
๐คTip: The system will validate the value before saving, thus you can't set a cap lower than the number of responses already collected.
Click Save.
๐คTip: The updated submission cap applies immediately
How survey closure works
Dual closure conditions
If a survey has a submission cap, and survey end date, the survey will close automatically when either condition is met first.
โ
What happens when the submission cap is reached
When the response limit is reached:
The survey status changes to Cap Reached.
The survey behaves the same way as an Expired survey.
New respondents see the configured closure message.
Survey questions are no longer accessible.
Automatically reopen a survey after response deletion
If responses are deleted and the total number of responses falls below the submission cap:
The survey automatically reopens.
The Cap Reached status is removed.
No manual action is required.
